NC man’s snake-control plan goes up in smoke

82-year-old William Litaker said he’d seen a couple copperheads behind a mobile home he used as storage in western Rowan County, NC, and he thought Thursday was a pretty enough day to “smoke ’em out.” When his kersosene-induced snake control destroyed a barn, two sheds and the mobile home containing collectibles and antiques, he was reflective. “I thought now would be a good time to do it, but it wasn’t,” he said.
