POC & Matagorda Warm-Up - Robert Sloan
One of the best places to be chasing trout and reds during March is located at Port O'Connor and Matagorda, on the middle Texas coast. This is the heart of the Gulf coast fishing, mainly because you have the option of fishing in numerous bays on any given day. They include East and West Matagorda Bay, along with Espiritu Santo, San Antonio, Ayres and Mesquito bays out of POC. These bays offer miles upon miles of primo trout and redfish water.
And if you're like Capt. Tommy Countz, who guides out of Matagorda, just east of Port O'Connor, you have the option of fishing on teh very popular East Matagorda Bay, as well as West Matagorda Bay. These are two excellent big trout venues during late winter and early spring.
