Texas artist John Dearman's "Laguna Madre Reds" graces the cover of Texas Outdoors Journal for May 2000. According to the artist, "The impetus for this painting was a trip to the Laguna Madre where we fished one morning for about three hours before getting rained out. "To me," Dearman continues in the book Texas Brushstrokes, "there are few things more exciting than sightfishing for redfish and getting within casting distance of a bunch of tailing fish in skinny water. There's something about those tails sticking out of the water!" Many Texas anglers will be repeating this scene during this month and, we're sure, echoing Dearman's statements. |
