Iowa Senate committee rejects noodling proposal

An Iowa state Senate committee on Wednesday rejected a proposal to end the current prohibition of catfish hand-fishing, or noodling, because of concerns the activity would remove large catfish off nests, leaving eggs unprotected and vulnerable. Iowa regulations bar only catfish noodling, while carp, buffalo, quillback, gar, sheepshead, dogfish may be taken by hand.
