Coastal Public Hunting Lands Reopen for Early Teal This Weekend

AUSTIN – Hunters along the Texas coast looking for access to public lands during the early teal season, which runs through Sunday, Sept. 24, may be in luck. Several Texas Parks and Wildlife Department coastal Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are reopening for public hunting activities.

The following WMAs have will be accessible during the Early Teal season as specified in Legal Game Box of the 2017-2018 Map Booklet for Public Hunting Lands:

Justin Hurst WMA — Only Tues., Thurs., and Sat. within the early teal season;

Mad Island WMA — Only Sat. and Sun. within the early teal season;

Lower Neches WMA (Nelda Stark Unit and Old River Unit) – Daily during the early teal season.

Guadalupe Delta WMA (Guadalupe River Unit and Hynes Bay Units) – Daily during the early teal season.

The J.D. Murphree WMA (Big Hill and Salt Bayou Units), Sea Rim State Park, and the Mission Lake Unit of the Guadalupe Delta WMA remain closed for all public hunting activities including the early teal season.
