A secret spot. It’s something all anglers dream about and the kind of thing that makes even the closest of fishing buddies keep information from one another. In reality, hidden treasures and honey holes within our coastal bay systems are quickly becoming distant memories. Modern technology in the form of highly advanced electronic GPS systems, satellite images, and detailed charts leave very little to the unknown.
The truth is there are very few stretches of water along the Texas Coast that haven’t seen the propeller of an outboard motor, paddle from a kayaker, or the wade boots of a wade fisherman. Despite these odds, certain strategies and an effective on-the-water approach can put anglers in a position to fish unpressured waters, and ultimately catch more fish.
September is a month in which fishing unpressured waters becomes a must for success. It often produces some of the highest water temperatures and daytime highs on the coast for the entire year. And it follows a time period in which immense fishing pressure on our coastal resources was experienced.
